Access Control System

An Access Control System can identify, authenticate, authorize or restrict the entry of people to a specific area validating the information through different types of reading.

The main objective of an Access Control System is to control, implement, record and review events that happens in a particular place to ensure safety or property of individuals that are located there.
Grupo Covix offers different solutions for Access Control as Biometrics, Proximity Cards, Face Recognition, Vehicle Barriers, full body & half body turnstiles, perimeter fence, barrers, etc.

Biometrics

Access Control technology is increasingly used around the world as a security measure in institutions.

Biometrics are a fundamental part of an Access Control system, since they represent the direct interface with the user, when receiving information from him/her to assess whether or not the individual has access to the site.

There are biometrics of many types such as fingerprint, hand, iris, vein, voice readers that are accompanied by keypads or keyboards, or proximity cards for more robust solutions. In this way it can be implemented that an individual's access through a door requires a combination of fingerprint (biometric), pin (keyboard), and card. The combination of only 2 of them is feasible, or you can even select that the access is with only one of the 3 options.

Software

The Access Control Software is the backbone of the system, among its main functions is to establish a bidirectional, efficient and secure communication through the interpretation and coding of information from control panels, biometric readers, proximity readers, etc.. Likewise, the Access Control Software is generally composed of a Server (manages the database, licenses, configuration of parameters and information storage) and one or more Clients (local or remote interface for the system operators/administrators).

Based on the requirements of each project, the Access Control Software is key to meeting and exceeding the needs of the end user, having the ability to integrate CCTV platforms, Fire, Perimeter Security, among others.

Time & Attendance

As a complementary part of Access Control, Time and Attendance in a company is key to personnel management. Administration is achieved by integrating biometric equipment (hardware) with a user-friendly system (software) where schedules, shifts and restrictions are created for specific users or groups of users (departments).

The Time and Attendance platform centrally and/or remotely controls any incident that occurs every day: attendance, punctuality, absences, lunch hours, working hours, overtime, among others. This is done automatically and in real time with the help of widely configurable reports, significantly reducing arduous recurring reviews of personnel assigned to these tasks, thus allowing more efficient processes that can even be integrated into payroll platforms, obtaining automatic calculations for human capital payments (employees, part-time, etc.).

Barriers & Turnstiles

Within an access control system there is another important peripheral component, the Barriers and Turnstiles that will open the blocked access. There are vehicle barriers that can be low flow and high flow depending on their use: toll, perimeter, corporate, residential, among others. It must be considered that the quality of the barrier to be implemented depends on the daily cycles, i.e. the number of openings they have in a day and the speed at which they will open and close an access, with 1 second being the fastest and 3 seconds or more for those with heavier arms. The barrier arm can be straight or retractable, with lengths to be adapted to the size of the access.

To block or allow pedestrian access there are tripod turnstiles that have 3 articulated arms, uni or bidirectional, can support readers or can be integrated into access controls. It is very important that you allow the arm to be released in an emergency. There are more aesthetic turnstiles that are called folding with tempered glass doors. They contain LED or display indicators that show the status of the access or the person you want to access.

Pivot doors for services requiring larger access. There are also pylons or bollards that generally work through hydraulic tires that require the installation of a cistern.

These devices are integrated into an access control system through a controller card, which is in turn controlled by the Access Control software.
